Yes. The doctor has the right to refuse to issue an electronic prescription if:
• Remote consultation is not sufficient and an in-person medical examination is required
• there are contraindications to the use of the drug
• there are no medical indications for prescribing the drug
• the patient did not provide the necessary medical documentation (for example, test results)
In each case, the decision is made by the doctor based on medical standards and in the interests of patient safety.
A doctor can write a prescription for a course of treatment for up to 3 months.
To continue therapy, a second medical consultation may be required to assess the effectiveness of the treatment and the safety of further use of the drug.
The validity period of an e-prescription depends on the type of medication.:
• standard electronic prescription — 30 days
• prescription for antibiotics — 7 days

Yes, if there are medical indications, a doctor can issue a cross-border prescription that allows you to purchase medicine in pharmacies in other European Union countries.
The cross-border prescription contains the necessary data required by EU law, including:
• first and last name of the patient
• date of birth
• the international name of the drug (INN)
• dosage and form of the drug
• Doctor's details and professional number
• the date the prescription was issued.
It is important to consider that:
• A pharmacy in another country may issue a similar drug if the trade name is different.
• Some medicines (for example, those containing narcotic or psychotropic substances) cannot be dispensed with a cross-border prescription
• The final decision on the delivery of the medicine is made by the pharmacist in the country of purchase.
The Polish e-prescription is usually valid only in Poland.
If the patient plans to buy the medicine in another EU country, the doctor can issue a special cross-border prescription intended for use in pharmacies in other European Union countries.
